That Daughter’s Crazy
Directed by: Elzbieta Szoka
‘That Daughter’s Crazy,’ directed by Elzbieta Szoka and produced by Paradox Smoke Productions (USA, 58 minutes), is a portrait of Rain Pryor, one of six surviving children of legendary comedian RIchard Pryor. Scenes from her one woman show about growing up half black and half Jewish in Beverly Hills in the 1970’s, are mixed in with family interviews, including her grandmother Bunny and her mother, Shelley. Similarities and contradictions emerge through the generations, as Rain follows in her father’s career path as a talented singer/actress/comedian, while trying to avoid the pitfalls and behavior that earned him his notoriety.
