The Black Lives Matter music video incorporates footage of national and international Black Lives Matter protests, alongside images of the victims who have lost their lives at the hands of police. Also, interwoven within the video are subtle but intimate clips that capture Hoffman during the recording process.

lovelyLovely Hoffman is a singer, songwriter and musical theatre performer born and raised in Roxbury, MA. Lovely has had major success performing on shows with multi-platinum Def Jam recording artist Ne-yo as well as Jaheim and T-Pain. Some of Lovely’s musical theatre credits include Ain’t Misbehavin’, Hair, Avenue Q, Ragtime and Hairspray.  Lovely recently received the 2015 Independent Reviewers of New England (IRNE) Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her portrayal of Celie in the New England premier of “The Color Purple.”

Lovely’s consciousness and political mindset was shaped while growing up in Roxbury, the same neighborhood that raised Malcolm X and welcomed Martin Luther King Jr.  Lovely says, “ I will forever be influenced by the legacy of the Black Power and Civil Rights movements, and will write music to reflect this.”  Her latest work, “Black Lives Matter,” was composed as a show of solidarity to the families and victims of police brutality.  It’s a song that documents the ongoing struggle of Black Americans to obtain racial, social, political, and economic justice.
