Hot Comb: The Masquerade is a short silent video that will be developed into a full length film. It is a 7 chapter narrative about how spiritual ancestors return to various historical sites both within and outside of the Black community in the Bay Area
The first chapter focuses on the merging of these spirits by the Goddess Oshun to transform these spaces from memorial to healing.

The Black Woman is God: Reprogramming That God Code” is a film that documents an art project that is becoming a spiritual and artistic movement. The film captures some of the most important Black women who are artists, activists, and community stewards that have shaped the landscape of the Bay Area and the world. The film captures what is means to use art as a vehicle to change the cultural reality of the Black community by presenting the iconography of God being Black and female with the intention of bringing the the community back in harmony with itself.

NOLA CIRCUS chronicles the lives of the inhabitants of a black neighborhood in Algiers Point (New-Orleans), the lives that intercross around two barber shops facing each other on the main street. On one side there is Will, a black hairdresser who preaches against racial prejudices while having a secret affair with Nola, a young white woman who is dreaming of Broadway.
On the other, there is Marvin, well known sex addict who’s having a passionate affair with Karen, a small time pot dealer. The tensions sharpen on the day when Denzel, Nola’s super protective brother starts sinking into the compulsive jealousy, the day when three Ku Klux Klan members show up at Will’s place to kidnap him.

Cora, an African American woman living in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1966, owns and operates “Cora’s Place”, a “Colored Only” dinner, while raising a son and supporting her gambling addicted husband, Winston. Because she feeds a poor white man, the racist town sheriff invades the restaurant and beats her patrons, threatening to shut her down. Cora finds solace in the courage of friend Charles but knows the peace is temporary. At home Winston accuses her of infidelity with Charles and violently attacks her when she protests that he gambles her money away. When Charles stumbles into the restaurant beaten nearly to death, and Cora learns Winston did this, not the sheriff, she faces the truth that living free means leaving all behind.

Gerri van Staaden and his son Ryan came over in the 90’s because Gerrie, a member of the Bureau of State Security, was afraid of reprisals for his actions during Apartheid. Ryan and Lizzie fall in love and the film negotiates the couple’s trials at the hand of their elders.
