A meditation on anxiety and identity in the workplace, Stay is the story of Lorraine Delaney, a young, black lawyer who just lost her first job in a corporate firm. For weeks, Lorraine lives in a state of crisis, lying to the people she loves most. Stan Ashberry, her white building manager, seems to be the only one to take notice, as he begins to see her around the apartment complex during normal work hours. Eventually Stan pays Lorraine a visit to look into a potentially hazardous leak coming from her apartment. When Lorraine’s isolation is threatened she is finally forced confront the dilemma she has been attempting to avoid: continue to live in a state of paralysis or move forward.
